My #SymbolRightNow — Trusting Truth in A Time of Vulnerability

What is more powerful and yet more terrifying than being vulnerable? When you take a step back, it goes against our most basic human instincts. We blink, flinch, and have reflexes to ensure that we are never truly vulnerable. But what about emotionally? I often find myself questioning what true emotional vulnerability is and what could happen if everyone we connect with was vulnerable and confident with it. Where is the line between protection, our defenses, and being open?

_____

Imagine if two people in a budding romance both decided to not play it cool and truly be open and honest with where they were at? Or if you were in a situation with a friend, and needed to have a hard conversation with them, and allowed yourself to speak from your heart?

When you are able to let your guard down and trust, and truly be held and met, something magical happens. The walls of illusion shatter, and you find yourself closer and more in love with the people you trusted. This is easier said than done — being vulnerable triggers so much in us all. This is when I turn to my #SymbolRightNow.

The Endless Knot reminds me that we are all connected, we are all one in the same, and to trust the unfolding of life. To be vulnerable with someone else is to be vulnerable with yourself. This symbol reminds me that every single person you come in contact with gifts you with a reflection of yourself. Even if they do the most human thing in the world and mess up, maybe even hurt you, you still experienced the most amazing and profound experience — you gave yourself, wholly, with the wisdom of an elder and the untainted heart of a child, and no one can take that away from you. Being vulnerable is strength and bravery, and no situation or person can touch you when you come from that kind of power.

Every human being that you meet is not perfect, nor are they imperfect — they are human, just like you. We all have everything in us, we’ll save ten people form a burning building and still watch our own back. The Endless Knot reminds me to accept our species for what we are, to accept humanity as a whole, in myself, and in others. This idea is trust. Trust is not an outcome but a state of being, and through transparency, vulnerability, and consistency, we will all be able to connect deeply and truly. I live my life through the message of this symbol, and call on it when I feel the power of true connection.
